Amid lockdown, police realizes over Rs 11 lakh from norm violators in Kashmir
26 persons arrested, seven FIRs registered: Police
Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNO): As the government imposed weekend curfew across Jammu and Kashmir, the police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 26 persons and realized over Rs 11 lakh as fine for the norm violations in Kashmir.
After four-day relaxation, the government imposed restrictions again across Jammu and Kashmir in order to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), witnesses said that the police and paramilitary forces were deployed on the roads again today to enforce the lockdown across Srinagar and other districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that during the last 24 hours, Police have arrested 26 persons, lodged seven FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of Rs 11,18,100 from 5943 people throughout Kashmir for violating the various guidelines, rules and SOPs regarding Covid-19.
“Besides, 14 vehicles were also seized for violating Covid norms in district Shopian,” police said.
“On the directions of SSP Kupwara Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, Kupwara Police launched a special drive and distributed Face Masks among general Public in its jurisdictional Police Stations and Police Posts through concerned SHOs and In-charge PPs. People in the areas were advised to follow Covid- 19 guidelines and were also made aware about the symptoms of the virus.”
“The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines and rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs and guidelines envisaged by the government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.”
Moreover, police urged people to cooperate in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs, guidelines and protocols for their own safety and for the safety of others. “The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures,” police said—(KNO)
