Bandipora, Nov 05: Close after the notification for elections to District Development Councils, chairpersons, sarpanches and panchs owing loyalty to People’s Democratic Party from Bandipora Assembly segment called on party’s senior leader Nizam-ud-din Bhat at his residence here on Thursday.

In a statement, official spokesperson said that the participants discussed the situation arising out of announcement for elections for panchayats and district council, besides party affairs.

He said that PDP district president Gulam Nabi Tantrey, PDP leader Mohammad Abdullah Wani, Abdul Rashid lone, zone president Inam-ul-haq, general secretary Bandipora zone, Tahir Hussain and block presidents of the party were present on the occasion.

“Leaders exhorted upon office bearers and party workers to strengthen the party at grassroots and ensure reach out to address peoples’ distress arising out of the current scenario in J&K.”

He said that it was unanimously decided to religiously follow the party’s line on elections and political agenda.

“Workers also extended full support and cooperation for unity among like-minded forces committed to protecting identity and honour of the erstwhile state.”

Nizam-ud-din Bhat lauded the dedication of workers towards the party and its agenda against all odds.

He expressed hope that people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will soon come out of despair and added: “bad times won’t persist.”

The spokesperson said that this was a first spontaneous formal gathering after the notification for DDC elections was issued on Wednesday.

Pertinently, Bhat has been camping for the last two weeks in Bandipora and meeting the party workers on a daily basis.
