Sopore : Police on Wednesday evening registered a case against inhabitants of Zaingeer area in Sopore town for attending funeral procession of a slain militant in Voilation of the Covid-19 protocol.

A senior police officer told Kashmir Despatch that a case FIR No. 70/2020 US 188 IPC was registered against the participants of the funeral procession of the militant who was killed in an encounter on Wednesday in Gul Abad area of Arampora Sopore.

He said that despite the strict lockdown instructions of the government and the health advisories issued in view of the spread of the deadly Coronavirus, the people from different areas of Zaingeer belt of Sopore defied the instructions and attended the funeral procession and last rites of slain militant.

Officer said that slain militant’s family was directed and procedural protocol was also shared with them but instead of that they defy the instructions given by the concerned authorities.

He said that taking cognizance of the incident the police was asked to take swift action in the matter and maintain the enforcement of the lockdown in latter and spirit.

Pertinently, A JeM commander Sajad Nawab Dar of Sadipora was killed in a day-long gunfight in Gul Abad area of Arampora Sopore.
