Srinagar, Aug 12, KDC: Amid the uproar over the alleged staged encounter of three civilians from Rajouri in Shopian last month, National Conference Vice President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah has maintained a complete silence on the killings.

Omar, who is always the first to tweet on the issues ranging from politics to other issues in Kashmir, has chosen not to utter a word on the killings even as most of the senior leaders from different parties including PDP, Peoples Conference and other smaller parties have voiced their concern over the killings.
“He is the first person to tweet on everything under the sky. Wonder why has he maintained silence on the killings,” a local political analyst told news agency KDC.

While Omar has chosen not to speak on the issues, his party has issued a statement demanding time-bound probe into the killings.
“This silence on part of him (Omar) is conspicuous,” a former minister told news agency KDC.

Several senior political leaders including PC‘s Sajad Lone, JKAP President Altaf Bukhari, CPI-M leader MY Tarigami and others have raised concerns over the killings. Many of them have demanded a judicial and time bound probe into the killings to bring truth to the fore. (KDC)
