Municipal Committee Magam hand in glove with the violators allege locals

Srinagar, Sep 07, KDC: Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the illegal construction is going unabated in Magam town of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, with Municipal Committee Magam watching as a mute spectator.

Sources told news agency Kashmir dot Com – (KDC) that despite a blanket ban on unauthorized constructions dozens of structures viz shopping complexes and residential houses in good numbers have come up in the town.

The locals alleged that violators are carrying out illegal construction in connivance with the officials of Municipal Committee Magam.

Sources also said that in a strange move President Municipal Committee Magam has issued permissions for the construction of these structures. It raises the question of how the MC President can issue the building permission as the job is the prerogative of the ‘BOCA’ Committee.

Despite repeated attempts, Deputy Commissioner Budgam couldn’t be contacted for his comments on the issue; however, President Municipal Committee Magam Ghulam Mustafa, while refuting the above said allegations said that during his tenure from January 2020 only two permissions for raising the legal structures have been granted.
