Team Badshah Sports lifts the throphy 

Bandipora, Oct 05 [VN]: The Sumlar T20 cricket tournament concluded on Monday with its grand finale played in Sumlar village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The grand finale was played between Team Badshah Sports and Team Star Sports. 

The tournament was organized by Army’s 14 RR Unit on a knockout basis in Sumlar village of Bandipora. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament.

An official spokesman said that in an initiative to further improve the bond with civil population and give them a chance to showcase their cricketing talent Bandipora RR under the aegis of Watlab Sector had started T-20 Cricket Tournament at Sumlar on September 14. 

He said that after the arduous contest between the participating teams in pre-quarters, quarter finals and semi-finals, it was Team Badshah Sports and Team Star Sports who could manage to sail through the rough tides of the tournament.  

“After the display of impeccable sportsmanship, team spirit and do or die attitude, it was Team Badshah Sports which lifted the trophy after winning over Team Star Sports in the grand final,” he said.

The spokesman said that the grand final culminated with the Chief guest, Brigadier Vivek Narang, Commander Watlab Sector felicitating the match winning team and and match changing performers of the tournament.  

“Irfan Mir bagged the award for Man of the Match and Manzoori Shiekh was adjudged Man of the series,” he said.

The spokesman said the cheering of the crowd was a sight to see and it was their loud support which led to their teams achieving such a great feat. 

“The effort of Army for organizing such a huge event was  appreciated by everyone witnessing who were awestruck with the magnanimity of the event and it seems to have become the talk of the town,” he added [VN].
