Ganderbal, Nov 28, KNT: Polling began amid tight security arrangements for DDC Elections in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district of Block Gund A and B from 7 am on Saturday.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made for voting as well as to ensure that social distancing norms are in place in the times of pandemic.

An official told News Agency KNT that 21 candidates are in fray and for the posts of Panchs there are 62 candidates.

He said there are 20,895 voters among which 10,966 are male voters and 9929 voters are females. “We have set up 127 polling stations. The strength of polling staff is 762.”

The result for the Panch and Sarpanch posts will be declared shortly after the culmination of the polling at 2pm.

“People are coming out to vote while the percentage may increase as the day passes,” he said. (KNT)
