*DDC polls: Neck to neck contest in Rawalpora between PAGD, JKAP candidates*
Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNO): In the first phase of eight-phased District Development Council (DDC) elections, a neck to neck contest was witnessed between the candidates of two parties including National Conference (NC) and Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) in Rawalpora-14 DDC constituency.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the voters in large number were turning up till 02:00PM today to cast their ballots in the favour of their favorite candidate.
However, a neck to contest was witnessed between the twin parties including NC and JKAP as most of the voters who were seen at the polling booths were diehard fans of the respective parties.
According to the official figure available, a total of 1617 votes out of 10,300 were polled at ward number 14 Rawalpora here where 18 polling booths were set up by the authorities today.
The voters who were turning up to cast their ballots were mostly diehard fans of NC or JKAP.
A leader from a political party, who was present at one of the polling booths in Rawalpora, said that it is difficult to predict who will win in the polls, but there is a tough contest between NC and JKAP candidates.
NC contestant, Ali Muhammad Tantray was the joint candidate of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) while Muhammad Ashraf Dar was contesting on JKAP’s ticket.
According to the party workers, many of the voters who turned up today also cast their votes in favour of other seven candidates.
Pertinently, first phase of eight-phased DDC polls commenced today across Jammu and Kashmir while 296 including both male and female candidates were in the fray while a total of 7 lakh voters were scheduled to cast their ballots—(KNO)Follow Us On
