Phone Conversations: Couple arrested for blackmailing men
Uri, Feb 1: Police in North Kashmir’s Uri arrested a couple for black-mailing and threatening men to implicate them in false sexual harassment cases.
Station House Officer Uri, Muhammad Ashraf Pal told News Agency Kashmir News Trust that a shop keeper from Lagama village had filed a complaint claiming that a woman is black-mailing him and demanding Rs 40,000. The shopkeeper, a blacksmith by profession in his complaint had stated that he was trapped by a woman and later she threatened him to making late night phone conversation public if he won’t pay her money.
Police in a swift action registered a case vide FIR number 9/2021 under sections 420, 506 and 120-B of the IPC.
The Station House Officer said that during investigation, it came to fore that a couple (Husband and wife) were active whose business was to trap innocent people. The woman used to get the phone numbers of people from banks and recharge shops and later contacted them and luring them. The woman later used to threaten people to make their conversations public while some among them out of shame and credibility were paying ransom to the couple.
