Srinagar Police solved theft case, accused arrested, stolen property recovered

Srinagar: 8thDEC: On 22.11.2020 Police Station Sheedgunj received a written complaint from one Mukhtar Ahmad Shah
S/O Late Ali Mohd Shah R/o Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar, proprietor of New Shah Ornaments located at Hari SIngh High Street & stated therein that one unknown lady Customer has stolen two bangles worth rupees one lac from the said shop.

On this information a case FIR No. 145/2020 U/S 379 IPC was registered in Police Station Shaheedgunj and investigation was taken up .

During the investigation police inspected scene of occurrence & completed all legal formalities including obtained CCTV footage of the incident from the said shop. On 07/12/2020 during analysis of the CCTV footage the suspected lady used her mobile phone while entering in the shop.

Some suspects were called to PS for questioning, lastly on the basis of technical information one suspect lady (name withheld) was apprehended & while questioning she disclosed her involvement in the said crime & bangles (stolen property) were recovered from her possession on her disclosure.

Pertinent to mention that most of the area is under CCTV surveillance. Local market Associations of Hari Singh High Street, Goni Khan & Maharaja Bazar were persuaded to install CCTVs during various Police Public meetings held by the PS to which they responded positively & consequently theft cases in the area have considerably declined & has instilled a sense of security among the traders. Srinagar Police has always maintained that the cooperation of public is a must to curb social evils.
