Strict legal will be taken: DC

Baramulla, August 26: The students and staff members of Guru Nanak Dev Model (GNDM) High School Baramulla have allegedly violated Covid-19 SOP’s during annual day rehearsal here on Wednesday in the institution.

As per the reports available, students and staff members of the school were seen rehearsing for an annual day in the school, however, none of the students were seen wearing masks nor any social distance was witnessed during the function. While a few photos of the rehearsal function have gone viral on social networking sites, where people have raised questions on the safety of the children with no SOP or protocol being followed.

It is pertinent to mention here that schools and colleges are closed across Kashmir, however, questions are raised about how and why students were allowed to gather inside the premises and were allowed to carry rehearsal for the annual day function.

Chief Education Officer Baramulla Abdul Ahad while talking with Kashmir Despatch said he will look into the issues and action will be taken against the Institution for not following guidelines and instructions issued by the local administration.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. G.N Ittoo in a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch said, a news report making rounds on social media outlets that how a private school in Baramulla is being allowed to organize a cultural function/musical concert if the lockdown restrictions under section 144 CRPC are in force.

The statement reads that the District administration has not given permission to anyone for organizing any kind of function/concert. Authorities will properly investigate the matter and strict legal action shall be taken against those violating COVID-19 SOPs/guidelines the statement further reads.
