Year-ender report: GoI launches plethora of welfare schemes in J&K

Jammu, Jan 08 (KNO): The Government of India (GoI) in the year-ender report has mentioned various schemes that was launched in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the year 2019.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the report said the government has initiated the process for the overall development, progress, and growth of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh besides local level artisans are being promoted and several schemes were launched for the overall progress of both the UTs.

Union Agriculture Ministry

For financial progress, Agriculture Ministry revealed that “scheme guidelines further amended to provide 50 per cent subsidy to eligible entities through NAFED for transportation and/or storage of apple from Jammu and Kashmir. Rs 10 crore as advance has been released to NAFED for this.”

Minority Affairs Ministry

The report said the process to establish Waqf Boards in Jammu-Kashmir and Leh-Kargil has been started.

“On 4 December 2020, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced that Waqf Boards will be established soon in Jammu-Kashmir and Leh-Kargil and the process of establishing the Waqf Boards has been started”, the report said.

“Waqf Boards will be established in Jammu-Kashmir and Leh-Kargil for the first time since the Independence and it has become possible only after the abolition of Article 370,” it said.

“Waqf Boards will ensure proper utilization of Waqf properties in Jammu-Kashmir and Leh-Kargil for the welfare of society. The central government will provide adequate financial assistance to construct infrastructure for socio-economic and educational activities on Waqf properties in Jammu-Kashmir and Leh-Kargil under PradhanMantri Jan VikasKarykram (PMJVK),” Union Minister Naqvi said.

The report said that “there are about 6,64,000 registered Waqf properties across the country. Digitisation of all the state Waqf boards has been completed. Geo-tagging/GPS mapping of Waqf properties is being done on a war footing. All the state Waqf boards have been provided video conferencing facilities in the year 2020.”

Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises

The report reads that the ministry has inputted work to empower village-level industries and new products were launched by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
